Matt has considerable experience of undertaking research in the areas of CPD, STEM and ICT. He has extensive experience of designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research projects, and in designing and successfully leading projects that incorporate both approaches. Matt is highly-skilled at collecting data from research participants, and in presenting research findings to practitioner and policy-based audiences. He has trained colleagues in the use of focus groups and Audience Response Systems, and led seminars on the use of Web 2.0 technologies as a research and project management tool.
Matt is currently leading the national evaluation of the Gaining Ground Strategy for the DfE, He is also leading a qualitative evaluation for the National Science Learning Centre which explores the impacts on pupils of the subject-specific CPD undertaken by teachers at the Centre.
