Emily has extensive experience developing and evaluating science assessments. The main focus of her work for over ten years has been the National Curriculum tests in Science for eleven-year-olds which are now used on a sampling basis. Other projects have involved the use of electronic techniques in science assessment including electronic marking systems and electronic delivery of tests. Emily has also co-authored a published series of books designed to aid teachers in assessing science in a practical setting.

Prior to working at the NFER, Emily worked as a teacher in a variety of roles both in the UK and in Saudi Arabia. She has a degree in Marine Environmental Chemistry, and is a Practitioner of the Association for Educational Assessment-Europe.
